I’m speechless

December 31st, 2007 | Category: Personal Tech News

I can’t even begin to explain how good this speaker system is. It pumps out 5.1 sound like there’s no tomorrow. The setup I have works perfectly. I really couldn’t have asked for a better setup than I have now. And, to top it all off, I got it all for under $250. That’s sweet.

Change of plans

December 24th, 2007 | Category: Personal Tech News

I’ve decided to change the way to get surround sound on my MacBook Pro. Since I recently found out that the sound output port is not only a headphone jack but it’s also a mini-Toslink (mini-Optical (digital audio)) port. Which is great, because a company off amazon sells a a mini-Toslink to Toslink adapter for less than 2 dollars (and I have an extra toslink (optical) cable sitting around). So since I don’t need Griffin FireWave anymore, I decided to go all out on the speakers (and the system I bought didn’t have optical input). So I decided to go out and buy the Logitech z-5500 set. Not only is it THX-certified, but it’s got both coaxial and optical inputs for two digital signals (not like I need it, but it’s nice if you want to hook two things up to it for surround sound). All in all, a great buy. AND, to top it all off, it was marked down from $400 to $243. Now that’s a really great buy.

Burnout Paradise

December 24th, 2007 | Category: PS3 News

I just finished roaming around the demo city in the Burnout Paradise PS3 demo. It’s freaking huge! And, that’s just the demo area! The rest of it is like…20x as big. That’s a lot of free roam (yes, you can free roam it). I’m pretty sure it’s for the 360 also, so anyone with a PS3 or 360, try out the demo; it’s great.

Sorry for no news in a while

December 23rd, 2007 | Category: General

I’ve been busy during the last week, lots of papers, Physics project, etc. But, yeah, UT3 is freaking awesome. I’m on it at least once a day, so if you’re even on, give me a hit. PSN: Berzerker214

Also, I bought a 5.1 Surround Sound system for my TV/PS3. It works so awesomely, I couldn’t have asked for a better system. It’s a Sony that I got from Best Buy for like $175. Pretty damn cheap. With some extra cables, and some converting, it works like a charm with everything I use (TV, Wii, PS3). Assassin’s Creed in 5.1 is awesome.

Also, if any of you have Macs out there and want a surround sound solution, check out the Griffin FireWave Converter*. It connects through FireWire and converts the signal to the 5.1/7.1 sound with the 3 speaker connections you need. I haven’t received it yet, it’s coming next monday (Dec. 31st). And of course, with this converter, I needed some speakers right? Well, I purchased some awesome 5.1 Logitech X-540 speakers. Now…you’re thinking it’s Logitech, so….$300? $400? Nope. $75…..Yup, $75. Gotta love Amazon. :P Mac or PC, pick them up, cheap amazing 5.1 speakers.

Well, that’s all for now.

*Note: The Griffin FireWave is for Macs ONLY. I’m serious. There are no Windows drivers for it. Likewise, it will not work in Boot Camp.
